Fundraising Policy

Scope

This policy applies to all SUNY Geneseo faculty, staff, administrators, departments, affiliated foundations, advisory councils, alumni groups, and any other entities acting on behalf of, or in association with, the institution in fundraising efforts or engaging in private fundraising efforts on behalf of the institution. 

Policy Statement

This policy is intended to ensure that all fundraising activities seeking private support for SUNY Geneseo are properly coordinated through the Office of College Advancement. This coordination maximizes effectiveness, preserves donor relationships, aligns with institutional priorities, maintains compliance with SUNY policies, and applicable laws.

Policy

All efforts to seek, solicit, or secure private financial support—including gifts, philanthropic support, sponsorships, and in-kind donations—from individuals, corporations, foundations, or organizations must be coordinated through the Office of College Advancement. No employee, student, department, or affiliated group may engage in independent fundraising activities without prior approval from the Vice President for College Advancement.
